As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate in the state of Texas (LMFTA), I specialize in individual, couples and family therapy and maintain a private practice in Midlothian, TX.
I have always had a passion for working with couples experiencing turmoil in their relationships resulting from infidelities, communication problems, or life cycle transitions, and a majority of my clinical experience was spent working with parents adjusting to the challenges of parenting, and specifically raising a special needs child. My Bachelors degree was in Theatre Arts from Principia College, and after working professionally as an actress and teacher in Dallas/Fort Worth, I moved on to graduate with Distinction from the COAMFTE accredited Marriage and Family Therapy program at Capella University where I received my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy. In my practice I have the privilege of serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of expertise are relationship issues, parenting styles, communication problems, and the exploration of the whole self. All of my years as an artist, wife and mother combined with my knowledge of family systems enables me to offer a unique and creative way of blending counseling theories and techniques to meet the needs of my clients.
As an engaged, emotion-focused therapist, my approach is to explore the varying degrees of emotional pain, loss, loneliness, and yearning for comfort that can be disguised by actions masking those feelings through being defensive, angry, and emotionally distant. Integrating complementary methodologies and techniques allows me to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I will work with each individual, couple, and family to help them build on their strengths to attain the personal growth and relationship satisfaction they are committed to achieving.
I am a professional member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Dallas Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (DAMFT).
